A delightfully comfortable Saturday morning, certainly not typical of August, gave the OCRR a fantastic riding morning as we ambled down to the Monarch Beach Starbucks in the Gelson's Center at Crown Valley and the PCH. John Peters kindly snapped an excellent set of photos for our enjoyment, capturing some of the 8 AM group at Windrow Park and some scenes at our coffee stop. Much obliged, John.

Saturday's alternate ride was a morning up in the Palos Verdes peninsula. Jess took a nice set of photos and provided the following description:
An enthusiastic group of Rebels gathered in Palos Verdes for a little jaunt around and over the hill in this beautiful area. Kim Graves (Kimmy) was making her first visit to PV and looking forward to the climbs that many of us had described on other occasions. The first part of the ride took us around the lower streets of the peninsula and taking in the gorgeous views and beautiful homes that dot the landscape.
The climbing soon began in earnest and one could hear the changing of gears and chain rings. As the road angled up the pace slowed and breathing became more labored. Humidity had risen and even with the constant overcast we were soaked with sweat. A short break at Punta Point and then it was a very fast downhill ride to Malaga Cove for drinks and a break.
From Malaga Cove we soon found ourselves climbing through several switchbacks and short rollies which took us to PV Drive West and a fast ride to PV Drive East to start the longer climbs of the day. This road twists and turns as it angles upward towards Marymount and then the twisting "switchbacks" took us down to PV Drive West and back to the cars.
A delightful lunch at a great Japanese restaurant ended the ride of about 30 miles and almost 3000 feet of climbing. Lots of tall stories from Lettie, Mike, Kimmy, Dave, Louis and Scott. A super ride.
